Why choose therapy?

People come to counselling or psychotherapy for many different reasons; it might be that they find relationships challenging, feel themselves of lesser value than others, have depression or anxiety, or perhaps have an event in their lives they are struggling to manage.

I am certified and experienced in working in EMDR, integrative, person-centred, psychodynamic, and existential analysis. Further training post-qualification includes Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression, Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy, and a number of approaches to mental illness and to safeguarding.

I offer short-term or long-term therapy; you might want to decide on a certain number of sessions or have therapy for as long as you feel you need it.

Your therapy with me could have a specific goal or be less specific, more deeply focused on character or experience, or a space to reflect and take stock. Here are some of the issues I have worked with:

    • Depression and/or anxiety
    • Relationship difficulties, break-downs or uncertainty in relationships
    • Bereavement and loss of all different types and timescales
    • Low confidence or low self-esteem
    • Issues around identity, gender, sexual or relationship difference, cultural and/or race difference
    • Issues with body, spirit or soul
    • Bullying
    • Trauma
    • Repeated difficulties and challenges
    • Support through a difficult time

I am aware of how hard the first step of contacting me might be. I do not charge for the initial conversation as I believe it is so important that you find the right person for you.

A helpful guide to finding the right therapy and the right therapist for you can be found at the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy:
